Buying, Instead of Bailing Out, GM
This week, Congress will consider spending $50 Billion or more bailing out the failed management of General Motors. These are the same guys that gave us the Hummer instead of the Prius, that still believe that global warming is a hoax, that dug in their heels at the suggestion of higher CAFE standards. These are clowns that need to be fired, and a bailout does nothing to effect that change. But there is a way to get them out that costs a lot less. Congress, you should buy GM.
Current market capitalization of General Motors is just $1.8 Billion. That's right, for less than $2 Billion, you can buy the whole damn company, lock, stock and barrel. For just $2 Billion you get to fire the senior management, replace the board of directors, renegotiate the labor contracts, and fundamentally reshape the auto industry in this country. Why in the world would you spend $50 Billion to continue the same failed business models when you can turn this industry around with a small fraction of that amount?
